UV fused silica optical windows have hydroxyl absorption at wavelength 1400nm, 2200nm and 2700nm. Anhydrous synthetic quartz is a special material that does not absorb water molecules in the molecular glass. Therefore there is no hydroxyl absorption at the IR region. Fused silica windows are also ideal for UV applications. They have good transmission at 130nm to 8000nm.
